Overview

The Chevrolet Silverado works hard to live up to its reputation as the 'strongest, most dependable and longest lasting full-size truck on the road'. The 1500 is the 'half-ton', model in Chevrolet's full-size pickup line-up. The Silverado is offered as a regular, double or crew cab all available in both FWD and 4x4. The Regular cabs are available with a 6.5- or 8-foot box, the double cab is available in a 6.6 box while the crew cab gets the choice between a 5.75- or 6.5-foot box. Three engines with Active Fuel Management are available, the 285-hp 4.3-liter V6 and the 355-hp 5.3-liter V8 are both mated to a six-speed automatic transmission while the 420-hp 6.2-liter V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include 17- 18- or 20-inch wheels, satellite radio, bluetooth, OnStar, tracker system with vehicle slowdown and trailer sway control. Trim specific optional equipment includes a heavy duty suspension, hill descent control, heavy duty rear locking differential, remote keyless entry, front and rear park assist, Lane Keep Assist, forward collision alert, LED cargo box lighting, soft or hard tonneau covers, a bed liner, leather seats, a power sunroof, EZ-lift and EZ-lower tailgate. Several packages are available for each of the different trims. The Black Out Edition has 20-inch black painted aluminum wheels, front and rear black bowtie emblems, body-color grille surround, body-color headlamp bezels and deep-tinted glass. The Special Ops Edition has sport assist steps, front and rear black bowtie emblems, LED cargo box lighting, bed-mounted tubular sport bar and spray-on pickup box bed liner. The LTZ Plus Package gets power adjustable pedals, Bose speaker system, Ultrasonic front and rear Park Assist and a leather wrapped heated steering wheel. The High Desert Package has lighted side box storage, a hard tonneau cover, 4-inch chrome round assist steps and all-weather floor liner. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 gets several changes to packages and options for 2017 and the Teen Driver mode is now standard on all trims.
