Overview

The GMC Canyon offers a variety of cab styles, suspensions and powertrains that make it both versatile and practical. Available in two- or four-wheel drive, the Canyon offers two body styles: extended cab and crew cab. The extended cab has a 6-foot box while the Crew Cab is available in either a 5- or 6-foot box. The Canyon is powered by one of three engines, a 200-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 305-hp 3.6-liter V6 or a 181-hp 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder diesel all three engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission while the 2.5-liter also gets the option of a six-speed manual. Trim specific standard features include 16- 17- or 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED daytime running lights, front fog lights, heated front seats, leather seats, pickup box cargo light, air conditioning, trailer sway control and 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. Tech features such as SiriusXM satellite radio, Pandora internet radio, Bluetooth, an 8-inch touchscreen display and Apple CarPlay as well as several OnStar features including guidance, 4G LTE, and Turn-by-Turn Navigation are standard. Available safety equipment includes 6 airbags, a rear view camera, low tire pressure warning, a tracker system with vehicle slow down, forward collision alert, lane departure warning and a restricted driving mode. Optional equipment such as an EZ-lift tailgate, remote keyless entry, remote vehicle starter system and several side step and tonneau cover options can be added. The Canyon adds a diesel engine and Apple CarPlay for 2016 as well as minor changes to options and packages.
