SPY SHOTS: Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale

Ferrari aficionados and motorheads the world over have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale. The previous 360 CS took the 360 Modena coupe, put it on a diet and gave it some stripes. The result was a leaner and meaner prancing horse that put the 360 Challenge race-car into street-legal form. The very idea of taking the already superlative F430 and giving it the same treatment was simply mouthwatering.

Chinese-made Miles OR70 NEV drawing interest on East Coast

Although it looks like a typical 4-door subcompact car, the Miles OR70 is a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV). In most states it's limited to roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less. Most people equate NEVs with open-air golf carts, but the OR70 is designed with more automotive features and appearance. It also costs more: about $14,800 to $16,900. Miles Automotive is based in Malibu, California, and is promoting the vehicle to East Coast dealers w

UK cops can now fingerprint on the fly

Cops in the UK are being armed with a new weapon that can take a suspect's fingerprints on the fly and instantly compare them with a database of 6.5 million prints on file. The goal is to reduce the number of false identities given during roadside stops by "suspect drivers". 4Car reports that about 60% of suspect drivers give false identification when they're stopped by authorities. The technology will also allow police to identify innocent travels who don't match suspects being sought, thereby

ZAP Car officials kicked off their million-tree program last weekend, which allows buyers of ZAP's electric vehicles to not only drive around without burning any gasoline in the motor but also help take CO2 directly out of the air by planting trees. Making a safety case for the Tango

Tango creator Rick Woodbury addresses safety concerns anyone might have while driving his narrow-bodied electric vehicle. The advantages are obvious: easy parking, slipping through congested traffic, no wasted space. Skeptics question the safety of such a small vehicle in a jungle filled with 7,000-pound SUVs. Rollover and crash protection bring on the obvious anxiety. But Woodbury says his vehicle has the static rollover threshold of a Porsche 911 because of the battery location. And the Tango
