Soichiro Honda made his name building scooters and motorcycles before suddenly bursting onto the automotive scene with an unconventional sports car, the S500, its second four-wheeled vehicle. Just a few years later, the company built a Formula One car that won a race in its second year of competition. It was an unprecedented and very dramatic start. Since then, Honda has built sturdy commuter cars such as the famous Accord, popular vans such as the Odyssey and for its loyal enthusiasts, performance icons like the Civic Si and Type R.
