Overview

The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is third member of the Clarity series that also includes the Clarity Fuel Cell and the Clarity Electric. Honda wants to offer consumers an array of powertrain options to suit their needs. The Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine that is combined with a 181-hp electric motor and 17 kWh lithium ion battery pack. On a full charge the Clarity can travel up to 47 miles before the gas engine has to start up. The Clarity seats five and includes the full suite of Honda Sensing safety features including lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow. Other standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights and rear lights, 18-inch aerodynamic aluminum wheels, dual-zone climate control, rain sensing wipers, cloth seat trim (leather on Touring model), heated front seats, HomeLink and an 8-speaker audio system with Bluetooth streaming. The Touring also adds an 8-way power driver seat with memory, 4-way power passenger seat and voice activated navigation system with live traffic. The Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is unchanged for 2019.
