1.48 million defective F-150s could suddenly shift to first gear.
Ford is issuing two separate safety recalls to fix mechanical issues affecting control of the transmissions on certain 2017 and 2018 models. The automaker says it's aware of one reported accident with an injury related to the the first and largest recall.
F-150s, Navigators, Expeditions and Mustangs are affected.
This recall only affects passenger side airbags.
This recall expansion brings the total number of affected cars to nearly 2.4 million.
The recall affects cars from 2012 to 2016 and is aimed at specific states.
Ford will recall certain Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models from 2011 and 2012 because the gearbox can suddenly shift into first gear. There are three accidents linked to the problem but no injuries.
Ford is issuing two recalls that cover a total of 442,300 vehicles in North America. One is for 422,814 cars for a possible power steering fault, and the other is for 19,486 units of the 2015 Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost for high underbody temperatures.
Ford is recalling 738 examples of the 2015 2015 Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine – 712 in the US, 16 in Canada.
