They say the best things in life are free. And, while we don't quite know who "they" are, we're not going to argue. Still, there are lots of things in life that are both expensive and very, very desirable. Take the Rolls-Royce Phantom, for example. It's about as far from free as you can get, and it's the best luxury car in the world. We know, because we just got the chance to drive both the standard- and extended-wheelbase models in Switzerland, and they were lovely.

Our readers clearly appreciate luxury, too. In addition to the Roller, our first drive of the Audi A8L attracted a lot of attention and eyeballs. It's not hard to see why – Audi's flagship sedan is packed with technology, luxury, and style. Speaking of style, take a look at the latest Land Rover Range Rover. It's not all new, but that's fine. It didn't need a full redesign. We like the addition of the hybrid P400e model, the comfier seats, and the new dual-screen dashboard.

Keep scrolling and you'll see a most excellent blue Ford Shelby GT350. If you're thinking that one of these things is not like the others, well, you're right. It's not a luxury car at all, but we're willing to give it a pass based on the richness of its performance. Anyway, it isn't exactly cheap – but the finer things in life never are, are they?

As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry.
