BMW 320i | Lease-deal highlight

In our look at a great lease deal in June, we attempted to profile a bargain for under $400 per month. As we settle into summer, here's a sizzling deal appropriate to the sizzling temps: BMW's offer on its 320i sport sedan.

You're reading Autoblog, so you know what the 320i has historically meant in the sport sedan marketplace. First introduced to the US in the 1977 model year, the 3 Series added refinement to BMW's sport/sedan recipe, embodied in the company's earlier - and more visceral - 2002. Initially launched with BMW's four, various sixes were subsequently added; 40 years later, a 320-horsepower six is available via BMW's up-spec 340i.

Today's 320i four-door essentially comes full circle, offering a turbocharged 2.0-liter four. And while down on both horsepower (180) and spec relative to the more premium – and still four-cylinder-powered - 330i (with 248 hp), the value-oriented 320i is none too shabby on an open road. And given the number of ways you can spend $40,000 on relatively tame transport, a '3' for that amount is an absolute win.

BMW's $359/month offer is predicated on a MSRP of $36,000 and a suggested contribution of $1,200 from your BMW dealer. With metallic paint, sport suspension, leather, wood trim and power front seats with heat, we priced one out at just under $40,000, for which we'd anticipate a lease payment of just under $400/month. Lease details are below (and it's not valid in Puerto Rico):
