Cash Cab gets a reboot on the Discovery Channel

Game shows may not draw the huge audiences they used to, but TV does love a reboot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Discovery Channel is making back Cash Cab the latest game show to come back from the dead. The show bills itself as the only cab that pays you, quizzing passengers and paying out up to a few hundred dollars to winners.

The American version of Cash Cab ran for 10 seasons from 2005 to 2012, winning three Daytime Emmys, with former host Ben Bailey winning a further three. Bailey isn't returning, but a new host has yet to be announced. In addition to the new host, celebrities will get behind the wheel to pick up passengers. It looks like the show will return to New York City, just like the previous iteration. Contestants can contact pedestrians or friends via phone, text, or social media in order to help out. Three wrong questions leaves the contestants without a ride.

The show is being produced by comedian David Steinberg. His credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, and Mad About You. Look for the show to hit Discovery sometime later this year.
