The overall exterior design is a pretty conservative step forward. However, there's a huge tech story inside via the adoption of the Virtual Cockpit first seen on the Audi TT, now also on the Q7, and this year's functionality with the Q7.
So on the brand new steering wheel, you have your dials on the outside. Here they are minimized so I see the navigation larger. I can press View and get my dials back, and then I press these buttons and I can see other information in the center.
The new MMI system with burlier internals is also from the Q7 and a huge step forward. One of my favorite things, however, is the new HVAC system. You have these two dials with TFT screens, also inspired by the Audi TT. And then along the center you have five buttons that are capacitive. So you just rest your finger on them-- and you can do this on the top and the bottom-- and you get access quickly and easily to all the functions the HVAC has to offer. No more having to press a button and turn a dial to do things like change the fan speed.
It's all right here-- boom, boom. Down, up. Simple, easy. Progress through technology, as it should be.
