Among the most minor criticisms we can level against The Fast and Furious franchise are the film's names. They're wildly inconsistent. And that's not going to change with the film's latest installment, which ditches the "Fast" part of the name entirely. Get ready to experience The Fate of the Furious.

The franchise's official Twitter account made the announcement today, attaching an explosive, 15-second trailer showing some of the new movie's action set pieces. In the clip, embedded below, we see Dominic Toretto scowling, Luke Hobbs with a cheesy phrase, Letty Ortiz holding an assault rifle, Roman Pearce clotheslining a snowmobiler with a body board, and the usual array of explosions and gunfire. This is normal Fast and Furious fare.

But the Twitter snippet also gives us our first look at Charlize Theron's villainous character, and it promises the arrival of the film's first trailer on Sunday. Naturally, we'll get that posted up as soon as it hits the YouTubes. Until then, give the teaser a few watches. It's pretty damn exciting. The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
