If you’re looking for a used Audi vehicle, you may want to check out their certified pre-owned program. Many manufacturers have a certified pre-owned (CPO) program, and each one is set up differently. Read on to learn about the specifics of the Audi CPO program.
Audi Certified Pre-Owned cars are always under five years old, have less than 60,000 miles, and come complete with a 24 month/50,000 miles Certified Limited Warranty.
In order to qualify for Audi’s Certified Pre-Owned car program, a vehicle must pass an inspection that includes more than 300 points, which check the following systems:
- Final Drive
- Climate Control
- Radio and Navigation
- MMI Components
Audi CPO vehicles come with a warranty, which covers repairs or replacement to any part that becomes defective under normal use within the first 24 months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty requires an $85 deductible for each service visit, and includes emergency 24-hour roadside assistance, which covers these items:
- Battery jump-start
- Emergency lockout assistance
- Fuel delivery
- Emergency towing
- Flat tire change
- Reimbursement for emergency repairs performed at a non-Audi facility, equal to the amount authorized by an Audi dealer.
The warranty does not include coverage for the following items or situations:
- Wear items, such as brake pads or incandescent bulbs
- The cost of maintenance services
- Damages or malfunctions caused by owner negligence, a vehicle accident, inclement weather, or fire
- Accessories or other non-essential modifications
In order to get the benefits of the Audi CPO car program, buyers will see a difference in the overall bottom line. The price of a CPO Audi vehicle will usually be around 6% higher than a regular “used” Audi vehicle.
For example, at the time of writing this article in April 2016, a used 2011 Audi A3 is priced around $19,896 on Kelley Blue Book; the same vehicle under the CPO program is priced around $21,068.

Whether you decide to go with a CPO car, it's always wise to have an independent certified mechanic inspect any used car before buying it. Certified Pre-Owned does not mean the car is in perfect condition, and any used car can come with serious issues that aren't apparent to an untrained eye. If you're in the market to buy a used car, schedule a pre-purchase inspection for total peace of mind.
