Hot Wheels Retro Style brings back some classic toys

Hot Wheels has its sights set on the nostalgia market with re-releases of some classic designs in the Retro Style series, and the toys even come in packaging inspired by the era, according to Hot Wheels Collectors. Head to your local Target if you need a new vintage car for your desk or want to remember an old playset.

The Target-exclusive toy cars are the highlight of the new Retro Style line to us. The first wave should be available now and includes a 1968 Chevrolet El Camino, 1984 Hurst Oldsmobile, 1987 Toyota Pickup, Volkswagen SP2, and others. A second batch arrives in August and adds an '80s Corvette (no specific year listed), a 1985 Camaro IROC-Z, and a Porsche 930. Any part of this group would look great decorating your desk or bookshelf.

If your parents threw away your favorite Hot Wheels playsets, the company is also ready to let you purchase those childhood memories again. Four-Lane Elimination lets you and your kids race a quartet of cars down a hill, but only one can be the winner. The Dash & Crash Speedway is similar idea for two cars but includes a loop. The Sto & Go allows the fun to go on the road, and the Car-Go Race Hauler offers a way to keep the toys off the floor.

Target has the playsets available online (linked above), but it appears you need to go to the store to buy the individual cars. If you need a little hit of nostalgia to brighten your desk, this is a fun choice.
