Parents accused of using 9-year-old as designated driver

A 9-year-old girl in Wisconsin allegedly had some early practice behind the wheel because her intoxicated parents were too tipsy to drive. An 11-month old baby was also reportedly in the vehicle.

The Polk County Sherrif received a report of a pickup driver swerving on the road on January 31, The New York Post reports. A deputy found the truck parked and arrested the parents after discovering their 9-year-old daughter was serving as the designated driver. The adults knew they were too drunk to drive themselves, but handing the keys to a child wasn't the best solution to their problem. The parents pleaded not guilty to charges of recklessly endangering safety and neglecting a child, and their trial hasn't yet reached a verdict.
