How many times have you misplaced important items in your house? Well if that important item happens to be your car title have no fear as you aren't alone. The good news is that you can apply for a duplicate car title, so you will still have that proof you need that shows you are the registered owner. Duplicate car titles can also be issued for people who have had their title stolen.

In the state of New Hampshire you will be able to go through the process with relative ease and speed. The Division of Motor Vehicles - Bureau of Title and Anti-Theft is who you will deal with. You can apply for this duplicate title in person or by mail, whichever is convenient for you. As far as the process goes, we’ve outlined the steps for you.

In person

  • You will need to fill out the Application for Duplicate Certificate of Title (Form TDMV 18) . Be sure that you have the signatures of all the owners of the vehicle.

  • You will need to provide driver's license numbers for each of the owners who appear on the title.

  • There is a fee that can be paid as a money order or by check. This fee is $25.

  • Take the information to your nearest NH DVM offices.

  • Typically the title is mailed out within five days of processing the application.

By mail

  • Begin by filling out Form TDMV 18 (as mentioned above), and follow the rest of the steps. The only difference is that you will be mailing it to the following address:

    NH Department of Safety
    DMV - Title Bureau
    23 Hazen Drive
    Concord, NH 03305
