Cop keeps his cool during confrontation with angry driver

A police officer in Texas stayed relaxed during a tense traffic stop, and now he's helping spread the word about what cops go through on a daily basis. Nick Harwood of Aransas Pass, TX told Inside Edition that he was performing a simple traffic stop when the driver became belligerent. He repeatedly cursed at Harwood and threw the ticket at him, but Harwood let it slide.

"That's how we are trained to act. If I reacted any differently, it just would have escalated that," Harwood told Inside Edition. Aransas Pass Police Chief Eric Blanchard told Inside Edition he believes civilians confrontations with cops have been on the rise since the public demonstrations in Ferguson, MO, last year. The unrest was caused by decades of racial tension brought to a head by police shooting an unarmed black man.

Many police departments are now releasing videos of confrontations, according to Insider, so the public can see what they deal with every day. Not that these videos are altogether shocking. Police officers know they will spend their careers interacting with potentially unbalanced people on one of the worst days of their lives. Or at least annoying locals with fines and tickets. That being said, being polite and respectful goes a long way when dealing with the police.
