Behold the Toroidion 1MW supercar, freshly revealed at Top Marques Monaco, in all its splendid blue-hued glory. The concept hails from Finland, and is the first fruit of a four-year effort by former Zagato and Jaguar designer Pasi Pennanen.
Though not many technical specifications have been released, we can tell you that each wheel is connected, quite directly, to its own electric motor – 200 kilowatt units for the front, 300 kilowatt zappers resting in the rear. Altogether, that adds up to one megawatt (hence, the 1MW moniker), or in traditional terms, 1,341 horsepower. No torque numbers have yet been released, but we expect the foot-pound figure will be significant.
Also light on specifics is anything to do with the battery. The Toroidion website does mention, intriguingly, that it will have a swappable setup that it says is, "as easily replaced in the pit-lane as it is in the home garage."
There is similarly no word on price or availability. As this is still being classified as a proof-of-concept, it's likely to be sometime before either of those are known. Plans currently call for it to be thoroughly put through its paces this summer, when the company plans on filling us in on other details it is holding back for now. Certainly, we'll be keenly watching to see how well the performance lives up to its promise.
