The Renault Kadjar was revealed on February 2, but the wraps come off the new model completely at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The Swiss show provides the first detailed presentation of the Kadjar's interior and introduces the specific X-Mod and Bose® versions of the model. The Kadjar stands out, too, as a particularly fuel-efficient crossover with the availability of two diesel versions with CO2 emissions amongst the segment's very lowest, at 99g/km* .
This compact crossover shakes up established thinking with a new, innovative approach to the segment, plus attractive styling.
The Kadjar sees Renault extend its crossover line-up with a C-segment model that slots between Captur and Koleos in the range. In this fast-expanding market, the Kadjar is poised to help Renault to meet its ambitious international growth targets.
In 2016, it will also become the first Renault to be made in China which was the world's leading automobile market. In 2014, total sales exceeded 22 million vehicles, 26 percent of which were crossovers.
Built on the shared Renault-Nissan CMF C/D platform, the Kadjar benefits from the Alliance's expertise in the realm of crossovers. The Renault KADJAR: a crossover with the power to seduce
1. A fresh take on the crossover world
Renault has taken an assertive stance in the C-segment crossover market with a design that expresses dynamism, strength and adventure. In Flame Red, the new model's launch colour, the Renault Kadjar uses its power of seduction to bring a breath of fresh air to the market.
Fluid, athletic exterior styling
The Renault Kadjar is a C-segment crossover that draws upon the cues associated with SUVs, saloons and estates.
Its compact footprint (4.45 metres long x 1.84 metres wide) and low roofline (1.60m) accentuate its dynamic stance.
The front end exudes an impression of strength. The manner in which the chrome strip continues across the head lights enhances the visual impression of width and contributes to the Kadjar's forceful character.
Sculpted 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels are further evidence of the vehicle's robust personality.
The Kadjar's flowing, athletic silhouette is founded on the muscular forms of its wings, while the sensuous fluidity of its lines is accentuated by the finish of the doors which are flush with the sills.
The slightly sculpted sides and pronounced shoulders also contribute to the overall sensation of dynamism.

The Kadjar incorporates the cues of the crossover world.
The Kadjar's ground clearance of 190mm provides an immediate pointer to the model's ability to stray off the beaten track.
The structured form of the grille heightens the assertive character expressed by the front end, while the front and rear skid plates – characteristic of SUVs – underline the Kadjar's adventurous temperament.
The lower door protective mouldings serve as an efficient shield while at the same time contributing to the car's solid stance.
The black wheel arch extensions form an extension of the lower part of the body and provide another indication of the Kadjar's taste for adventure and escaping the crowd, as do the anodised aluminium roof bars which add to the model's dynamic poise.
The KADJAR also focuses on elegance.

An LED (Light Emitting Diode) light guide in the form of the letter 'C' for the daytime running lights (DRL) endows the vehicle with a sense of status- enhancing distinction.
The Kadjar's refined and balanced lines are emphasised by the fitment of body colour door mirror housings and door handles for all versions. Finally, the use of chrome for the windows and daytime running light surrounds, as well as for the sill guards heightens the impression of distinction exuded by this athletic crossover.
A refined, sporty and well-appointed interior
The quality of the Kadjar's interior is visible in its meticulous finish. It boasts a uniquely stylish blend of comfort and refinement.
The instrument panel falls in the driver's line of sight and points to the enjoyment felt behind the wheel.
The horizontal lines of the dashboard design emphasise the width of the cabin. This impression is further emphasised by the extension of these lines across to the doors.
The instrument panel and air vents are outlined by a slender, elegant chrome trim.
The centre console is embellished by two dashboard trim strips that accentuate its breadth and status. Grab handles on each of the front doors and to the right of the centre console are signs of the vehicle's crossover pedigree.
The bold, expressive design of the gear lever contributes to the interior's sporty feel.
The sculpted seats have a distinctly sporty design.
The patterned seat cushion and vertical forms of the seat back are further indications of the interior's sporty character. A graphic patch on the side of the headrests injects an extra impression of dynamism, while the form of the seat cushions and lateral supports adds a further touch of refinement.
Particular attention has been paid to the comfort of the seats.
The seats are cosseting and welcoming while still leaving sufficient space for the second row which incorporates generous lateral supports. The slightly angled leading edge of the seat cushions ensures greater support and contributes to overall driving comfort. At the top of the seat backs, the lateral supports disappear, guaranteeing an ideal position for occupants of every build.
Backed with dual-density foam, the seats are extremely comfortable while still offering firm support.
The range of colours and materials selected for the model highlight the sporty, refined feel of the vehicle's interior. The dashboard, which is soft to the touch, illustrates the careful attention to detail that went into the Kadjar's finish, while sturdy covers on the grab handles and instrument panel cowling reinforce the model's strong personality. The central display is set to a deep black surround which makes information clearer to read.
A 1.4-square metre fixed glass sun roof adds to the balanced feel and brightness of the cabin.

The Kadjar X-Mod: offering adventure with complete control
With its thirst for adventure and superb road holding abilities, the Kadjar X-Mod is primed to head off the beaten track.
Based on the Zen equipment level, the Kadjar X-Mod comes complete with roof bars, Mineral Grey front and rear skid plates and special 17-inch wheels.
Kadjar branding on the front door sills adds to its distinctive style.
Inside, the exclusive upholstery, door handles and dashboard cowling are enhanced by ochre visible stitching that underlines the Kadjar X-Mod's bold personality.
It is equipped with 'Mud and Snow' tyres in both two-wheel-drive (mated with Extended Grip) and all- wheel-drive versions.
The Kadjar X-Mod is not only honed for adventure, however, and its similarly impressive levels of versatility and comfort are due to features taken from the next version up in terms of modularity and driving aids.
It comes as standard with the Easy Break system, which automatically folds the 60/40-split rear seats, while the front passenger seat back tips forward to form a small table. There is also an armrest for second row occupants and additional storage space underneath the centre console armrest.
The Kadjar X-Mod benefits from road-sign recognition, lane departure warning and automatic headlights.

The Kadjar Bose® combines sporty elegance with a unique listening experience for even higher levels of distinction and driving enjoyment.
Based on the Intens trim level, the Kadjar Bose® boasts full LED lights, gloss black door mirror housings, 19-inch diamond-effect alloy wheels, Bose® badging on the fenders and the logo on the door sills.
This version also comes as standard with Easy Park Assist and a back-up camera, both of which are optional features with the Intens model.
Inside, the accent is very much on refinement, with a colour blend of Scandium Grey and Charcoal, chrome-rimmed speakers at the bottom of the doors and exclusive upholstery with light grey piping for an added touch of elegance. The steering wheel is trimmed with Nappa leather, while black leather seats are also available as an option.

The KADJAR takes its robust build from the world of SUVs.
With all-wheel-drive, it offers improved traction in low-grip situations. Two- wheel-drive versions incorporate Extended Grip which enhances traction in difficult conditions.
The generous 190mm ground clearance and approach and departure angles of 18 and 25 degrees respectively guarantee outstanding driveability whatever the type of terrain.
Front and rear skid plates protect the vehicle's underbody.
The KADJAR's versatility and practicality are inspiredby estate cars.
The Kadjar's interior modularity is user-friendly and intuitive. Courtesy of handles located in the boot, the Easy Break system automatically unlocks and folds the 60/40-split rear seats. Additionally, the front passenger seat can be tipped forward to form a small table thanks to a handle positioned beneath it. This feature also enables longer items to be carried.
Two boot floor configurations make it possible to choose between a 'high' position with a completely flat floor, to facilitate the loading of large items, and a 'low' position to provide a maximum carrying capacity of 472dm3. Meanwhile, the option of compartmentalising the boot into two or three sections is a smart way to protect items and prevent them from moving about while on the move.
The interior offers impressive cabin space. In the back, the height-to-roof lining dimension (910mm) and 1,456mm of elbow room are amongst the best in the segment.
The Kadjar also provides 30 litres of practical stowage space around the cabin.

R-LINK 2: even more applications for businesses
Designed to make life easier and particularly adapted towards business use, R-Link 2 offers a range of dedicated packages, such as 'Fleet Asset Management' which is aimed at supporting fleet managers in three areas:
- Reducing vehicles' running costs: monitoring fuel consumption and mileage covered, anticipating and managing maintenance work.
- optimising their activity: collecting data relating to vehicle usage on a daily and automatic basis, to generate better reliability and reactivity.
- Educating drivers to raise awareness: in support of eco-driving and road safety.
The Kadjar's dashboard incorporates a TFT seven-inch screen that is brightly lit to optimise clarity.
Escapism and adventure in complete safety
The Kadjar's head light units incorporate two Full LED 'Pure Vision' modules that perform the functions of dipped and main beam. This technology endows the vehicle with a more intense and precise ray which is 20 percent more powerful than a halogen beam.
The cornering fog lights improve visibility to the sides. The function is activated when the direction indicator is used or when the steering wheel is turned at speeds of less than 40kph.
In addition to benefitting from Renault's expertise in the realm of safety, the Kadjar is equipped with advanced driving aids which can be activated directly from the Kadjar's R-Link 2 menu. They are designed to:
Prevent accident risks:
Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS): this system alerts the driver when it detects the risk of a collision with the vehicle in front. If there is no or not enough reaction of the driver, the brakes are automatically applied in order to avoid or limit the impact of collisions.
Lane Departure Warning: this function is activated at speeds in excess of 70kph and alerts the driver when a continuous or broken lane line is unintentionally crossed. This facility contributes to safety by warning the driver that the vehicle is at risk of leaving the road.
Blind Spot Warning: this system alerts the driver by way of a visual signal if another vehicle is in their blind spot, enabling safer overtaking.

Help the driver in low-speed manoeuvres:
Easy Park Assist: after helping the driver to identify a parking spot by measuring the available space with its sensors, this system subsequently assumes full control of the steering during the parking manoeuvre itself. The Easy Park Assist facility takes charge of three different parking modes: parallel, perpendicular and at an angle.
The central display screen displays all of the information relevant to the manoeuvre (graphic representation of the manoeuvre, reversing camera and sensors).
In all cases, the driver remains in control of braking and acceleration during the manoeuvre.
Front, rear and side parking aid: this system assists the driver in completing parking manoeuvres without taking over any of the driving tasks. 360-degree sensors protect the vehicle by alerting the driver to any risks of collision. Reversing camera: while the vehicle is reversing, the camera transmits an image of what is behind it onto the touchscreen. This image is accompanied by a mobile and fixed 'shadow' of the car as it reverses in order to facilitate the manoeuvre.
Hill Start Assist: this function automatically activates for three seconds when pulling away on a gradient of three per cent or steeper. It prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards by holding the brakes to give the driver time to start moving.
Help the driver thanks to a relaxed and responsible driving experience:
Trafic Sign Recognition with Speed Alert : this system alerts the driver to the regulatory speed limit, providing the opportunity to set it as a default on the speed limiter.
Cruise control with speed limiter: the cruise control facility maintains the vehicle at a constant speed, while the speed limiter prevents the driver from exceeding a pre-set threshold.

3. Efficient engines mated with 4x4 transmission to get away
The all-wheel-drive version of the Kadjar boasts all-round capabilities. Even in two-wheel-drive configuration with Extended Grip, it is nimble over difficult terrain. At the same time, Renault's new crossover is available with a range of Energy engines that blend outstanding driving pleasure with low fuel consumption.
All-wheel-drive abilities to explore every horizon
The Kadjar benefits from Renault-Nissan Alliance-developed ETC (Electronic Traction Control) which drives a coupler in real time to ensure that ideal amount of torque is transmitted to the rear wheels in accordance with the vehicle's speed and level of grip.
A rotary switch provides access to three different modes, making it easy to adapt the vehicle's abilities to the requirements of the situation.
In 'Lock' mode, the system electronically locks the transmission in four-wheel-drive and transfers 50 per cent of torque to the rear of the vehicle. This usage is recommended on rough or uneven surfaces or in low- grip conditions – such as snow, mud, gravel or sand – and at lower speeds. Reserved for all-terrain use, this mode functions up to 40kph.
In 'Auto' mode, the torque is automatically shared between the front and rear of the vehicle according to the level of grip, with up to 50 per cent distributed to the rear.
In '2WD' mode, the transmission operates solely with two-wheel-drive. This mode is ideal when driving on dry, grippy roads in a good state of repair.
The selected transmission mode is automatically displayed on the Kadjar's dashboard, with the driver informed in real time of the front/ rear torque split.
The two-wheel-drive versions of the Kadjar can come equipped with the Extended Grip4 facility. This advanced traction control system enables the vehicle to grip the road with confidence in difficult driving conditions such as snow, mud or sand...
The Extended Grip system is automatically mated to 17-inch « Mud and Snow » tyres with a specific tread pattern designed to clear mud, sand or soft snow more efficiently.

Engines that blend excellent performance with low CO2 emissions
The Kadjar benefits from a choice of downsized Energy engines5.
All the engines in the Kadjar range come with Stop&Start and deceleration energy recovery.
These powerplants incorporate the latest technologies in the area of friction reduction (variable displacement oil pump, thermal management, advanced surface treatment). Latest-generation fuel injection systems – mated to low- inertia turbochargers – result in levels of performance and efficiency to rival the market's very best.
The Kadjar offers two diesel engine options.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance's best-selling Energy dCi 110 unit positions the Kadjar at the top of its segment in terms of emissions (CO2 emissions: 99g/km) and combined NEDC6 cycle fuel consumption (3.8 litres/100km). For the first time, the Energy dCi 110 unit integrates steel pistons that reduce friction. This yields an estimated three per cent cut in CO2 emissions on an NEDC-homologated cycle7 .
Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the Energy dCi 110 is also available with six-speed automatic EDC transmission. This version delivers similar levels of fuel consumption and emissions to those of the manual version, while bringing to the table the comfort and response of a dual-clutch gearbox.
The Energy dCi 130 engine – available for both the two- and four-wheel- drive versions of the Kadjar – is packed with technologies borne out of Renault's experience in Formula 1. Thanks to downsizing, this 16-valve diesel unit produces peak power output of 96kW (130hp). It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Available across a broad rev-band, the generous peak torque of 320Nm torque is just as appreciable with two-wheel-drive transmission as it is with four-wheel drive versions, delivering brisk pick-up at all speeds. With four-wheel-drive, it is perfectly suited to low-grip conditions.
In order to comply with Euro 6b emissions legislation, these engines are equipped with a Nox Trap and particulate filter.
In terms of petrol engines, the Kadjar range features the Energy TCe 130 powerplant, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Developing 130hp at 5,500rpm and 205Nm torque from 2,000rpm, this 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit boasts the performance level of a naturally- aspirated two-litre engine.
By dint of its direct-injection technology and integrated manifold, it produces high torque at low revs.
The direct fuel-injection also improves fuel combustion, which in-turn benefits fuel consumption and Co2 emissions.
The Kadjar additionally offers the « Renault Driving eco2 » eco-driving functions, which help the driver to adopt a more economical and environmentally- friendly driving style.

Polished aerodynamics
The Kadjar benefits from a sleek and efficient aerodynamic design that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The Kadjar underwent extensive wind tunnel testing in order to find common ground between the design requirements and expectations in terms of aerodynamic performance. Particular attention was paid to the forms of the wheel rims and wing mirrors, as well as to the angle of the spoiler and air breathers.
The vehicle's underbody benefits from fairings, enabling the passage of air to flow freely beneath the chassis.
With crossovers traditionally noted for their generous ground clearance, a vent located at the front of the vehicle allows air flow to be steered around the wheel arches with a view to preventing turbulence in this area.
What's more, the Kadjar benefits from active flaps on the air intake ducts. These are closed when the engine starts up, and open automatically when engine cooling is required.
Taken together, these features yield a 4g/km reduction in CO2 emissions and a 0.62 litre/100kph fuel consumption saving at 130kph.

Since 2012, the Clio, the Captur, the Twingo, the Espace and, now, the Kadjar have served to dynamise the brand's image. The 2015 Geneva Motor Show marks a new step in the process with the revelation of the new "Renault - Passion for life" signature which succeeds the 'Voitures à vivre' tag line to reflect the renaissance of the brand's vehicles. Our vehicles have to allow their occupants to live fully their life. So the design and the well-kept details contribute to the pleasure and to the awakening of the senses. And the useful innovations facilitate the everyday life. The modernised Renault logo visible on the stand has now also been modernised to round off the brand's new spirit.
The Renault KADJAR: a crossover with the power to seduce
1. A fresh take on the crossover world
Renault has taken an assertive stance in the C-segment crossover market with a design that expresses dynamism, strength and adventure. In Flame Red, the new model's launch colour, the Renault Kadjar uses its power of seduction to bring a breath of fresh air to the market.
Fluid, athletic exterior styling
The Renault Kadjar is a C-segment crossover that draws upon the cues associated with SUVs, saloons and estates.
Its compact footprint (4.45 metres long x 1.84 metres wide) and low roofline (1.60m) accentuate its dynamic stance.
The front end exudes an impression of strength. The manner in which the chrome strip continues across the head lights enhances the visual impression of width and contributes to the Kadjar's forceful character.
Sculpted 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels are further evidence of the vehicle's robust personality.
The Kadjar's flowing, athletic silhouette is founded on the muscular forms of its wings, while the sensuous fluidity of its lines is accentuated by the finish of the doors which are flush with the sills.
The slightly sculpted sides and pronounced shoulders also contribute to the overall sensation of dynamism.

The Kadjar incorporates the cues of the crossover world.
The Kadjar's ground clearance of 190mm provides an immediate pointer to the model's ability to stray off the beaten track.
The structured form of the grille heightens the assertive character expressed by the front end, while the front and rear skid plates – characteristic of SUVs – underline the Kadjar's adventurous temperament.
The lower door protective mouldings serve as an efficient shield while at the same time contributing to the car's solid stance.
The black wheel arch extensions form an extension of the lower part of the body and provide another indication of the Kadjar's taste for adventure and escaping the crowd, as do the anodised aluminium roof bars which add to the model's dynamic poise.
The KADJAR also focuses on elegance.
The Renault Kadjar's strong identity is reinforced by the brand's new lighting signature first seen on the new Espace.
An LED (Light Emitting Diode) light guide in the form of the letter 'C' for the daytime running lights (DRL) endows the vehicle with a sense of status- enhancing distinction.
The Kadjar's refined and balanced lines are emphasised by the fitment of body colour door mirror housings and door handles for all versions. Finally, the use of chrome for the windows and daytime running light surrounds, as well as for the sill guards heightens the impression of distinction exuded by this athletic crossover.
A refined, sporty and well-appointed interior
The quality of the Kadjar's interior is visible in its meticulous finish. It boasts a uniquely stylish blend of comfort and refinement.
The instrument panel falls in the driver's line of sight and points to the enjoyment felt behind the wheel.
The horizontal lines of the dashboard design emphasise the width of the cabin. This impression is further emphasised by the extension of these lines across to the doors.
The instrument panel and air vents are outlined by a slender, elegant chrome trim.
The centre console is embellished by two dashboard trim strips that accentuate its breadth and status. Grab handles on each of the front doors and to the right of the centre console are signs of the vehicle's crossover pedigree.
The bold, expressive design of the gear lever contributes to the interior's sporty feel.
The sculpted seats have a distinctly sporty design.
The patterned seat cushion and vertical forms of the seat back are further indications of the interior's sporty character. A graphic patch on the side of the headrests injects an extra impression of dynamism, while the form of the seat cushions and lateral supports adds a further touch of refinement.
Particular attention has been paid to the comfort of the seats.
The seats are cosseting and welcoming while still leaving sufficient space for the second row which incorporates generous lateral supports. The slightly angled leading edge of the seat cushions ensures greater support and contributes to overall driving comfort. At the top of the seat backs, the lateral supports disappear, guaranteeing an ideal position for occupants of every build.
Backed with dual-density foam, the seats are extremely comfortable while still offering firm support.
The range of colours and materials selected for the model highlight the sporty, refined feel of the vehicle's interior. The dashboard, which is soft to the touch, illustrates the careful attention to detail that went into the Kadjar's finish, while sturdy covers on the grab handles and instrument panel cowling reinforce the model's strong personality. The central display is set to a deep black surround which makes information clearer to read.
A 1.4-square metre fixed glass sun roof adds to the balanced feel and brightness of the cabin.

The Kadjar X-Mod: offering adventure with complete control
With its thirst for adventure and superb road holding abilities, the Kadjar X-Mod is primed to head off the beaten track.
Based on the Zen equipment level, the Kadjar X-Mod comes complete with roof bars, Mineral Grey front and rear skid plates and special 17-inch wheels.
Kadjar branding on the front door sills adds to its distinctive style.
Inside, the exclusive upholstery, door handles and dashboard cowling are enhanced by ochre visible stitching that underlines the Kadjar X-Mod's bold personality.
It is equipped with 'Mud and Snow' tyres in both two-wheel-drive (mated with Extended Grip) and all- wheel-drive versions.
The Kadjar X-Mod is not only honed for adventure, however, and its similarly impressive levels of versatility and comfort are due to features taken from the next version up in terms of modularity and driving aids.
It comes as standard with the Easy Break system, which automatically folds the 60/40-split rear seats, while the front passenger seat back tips forward to form a small table. There is also an armrest for second row occupants and additional storage space underneath the centre console armrest.

Based on the Intens trim level, the Kadjar Bose® boasts full LED lights, gloss black door mirror housings, 19-inch diamond-effect alloy wheels, Bose® badging on the fenders and the logo on the door sills.
This version also comes as standard with Easy Park Assist and a back-up camera, both of which are optional features with the Intens model.
Inside, the accent is very much on refinement, with a colour blend of Scandium Grey and Charcoal, chrome-rimmed speakers at the bottom of the doors and exclusive upholstery with light grey piping for an added touch of elegance. The KADJAR takes its robust build from the world of SUVs.
With all-wheel-drive, it offers improved traction in low-grip situations. Two- wheel-drive versions incorporate Extended Grip which enhances traction in difficult conditions.
The generous 190mm ground clearance and approach and departure angles of 18 and 25 degrees respectively guarantee outstanding driveability whatever the type of terrain.
Front and rear skid plates protect the vehicle's underbody.
The KADJAR's versatility and practicality are inspiredby estate cars.
The Kadjar's interior modularity is user-friendly and intuitive. Courtesy of handles located in the boot, the Easy Break system automatically unlocks and folds the 60/40-split rear seats. Additionally, the front passenger seat can be tipped forward to form a small table thanks to a handle positioned beneath it. This feature also enables longer items to be carried.
Two boot floor configurations make it possible to choose between a 'high' position with a completely flat floor, to facilitate the loading of large items, and a 'low' position to provide a maximum carrying capacity of 472dm3. Meanwhile, the option of compartmentalising the boot into two or three sections is a smart way to protect items and prevent them from moving about while on the move.
The interior offers impressive cabin space. In the back, the height-to-roof lining dimension (910mm) and 1,456mm of elbow room are amongst the best in the segment.
The Kadjar also provides 30 litres of practical stowage space around the cabin.

R-LINK 2: even more applications for businesses
Designed to make life easier and particularly adapted towards business use, R-Link 2 offers a range of dedicated packages, such as 'Fleet Asset Management' which is aimed at supporting fleet managers in three areas:
- Reducing vehicles' running costs: monitoring fuel consumption and mileage covered, anticipating and managing maintenance work.
- optimising their activity: collecting data relating to vehicle usage on a daily and automatic basis, to generate better reliability and reactivity.
- Educating drivers to raise awareness: in support of eco-driving and road safety.
The Kadjar's dashboard incorporates a TFT seven-inch screen that is brightly lit to optimise clarity.
Escapism and adventure in complete safety
The Kadjar's head light units incorporate two Full LED 'Pure Vision' modules that perform the functions of dipped and main beam. This technology endows the vehicle with a more intense and precise ray which is 20 percent more powerful than a halogen beam.
The cornering fog lights improve visibility to the sides. The function is activated when the direction indicator is used or when the steering wheel is turned at speeds of less than 40kph.
In addition to benefitting from Renault's expertise in the realm of safety, the Kadjar is equipped with advanced driving aids which can be activated directly from the Kadjar's R-Link 2 menu. They are designed to:
Prevent accident risks:
Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS): this system alerts the driver when it detects the risk of a collision with the vehicle in front. If there is no or not enough reaction of the driver, the brakes are automatically applied in order to avoid or limit the impact of collisions.
Lane Departure Warning: this function is activated at speeds in excess of 70kph and alerts the driver when a continuous or broken lane line is unintentionally crossed. This facility contributes to safety by warning the driver that the vehicle is at risk of leaving the road.
Blind Spot Warning: this system alerts the driver by way of a visual signal if another vehicle is in their blind spot, enabling safer overtaking.

Help the driver in low-speed manoeuvres:
Easy Park Assist: after helping the driver to identify a parking spot by measuring the available space with its sensors, this system subsequently assumes full control of the steering during the parking manoeuvre itself. The Easy Park Assist facility takes charge of three different parking modes: parallel, perpendicular and at an angle.
The central display screen displays all of the information relevant to the manoeuvre (graphic representation of the manoeuvre, reversing camera and sensors).
In all cases, the driver remains in control of braking and acceleration during the manoeuvre.
Front, rear and side parking aid: this system assists the driver in completing parking manoeuvres without taking over any of the driving tasks. 360-degree sensors protect the vehicle by alerting the driver to any risks of collision. Reversing camera: while the vehicle is reversing, the camera transmits an image of what is behind it onto the touchscreen. This image is accompanied by a mobile and fixed 'shadow' of the car as it reverses in order to facilitate the manoeuvre.
Hill Start Assist: this function automatically activates for three seconds when pulling away on a gradient of three per cent or steeper. It prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards by holding the brakes to give the driver time to start moving.
Help the driver thanks to a relaxed and responsible driving experience:
Trafic Sign Recognition with Speed Alert : this system alerts the driver to the regulatory speed limit, providing the opportunity to set it as a default on the speed limiter.
Cruise control with speed limiter: the cruise control facility maintains the vehicle at a constant speed, while the speed limiter prevents the driver from exceeding a pre-set threshold.

3. Efficient engines mated with 4x4 transmission to get away
The all-wheel-drive version of the Kadjar boasts all-round capabilities. Even in two-wheel-drive configuration with Extended Grip, it is nimble over difficult terrain. At the same time, Renault's new crossover is available with a range of Energy engines that blend outstanding driving pleasure with low fuel consumption.
All-wheel-drive abilities to explore every horizon
The Kadjar benefits from Renault-Nissan Alliance-developed ETC (Electronic Traction Control) which drives a coupler in real time to ensure that ideal amount of torque is transmitted to the rear wheels in accordance with the vehicle's speed and level of grip.
A rotary switch provides access to three different modes, making it easy to adapt the vehicle's abilities to the requirements of the situation.
In 'Lock' mode, the system electronically locks the transmission in four-wheel-drive and transfers 50 per cent of torque to the rear of the vehicle. This usage is recommended on rough or uneven surfaces or in low- grip conditions – such as snow, mud, gravel or sand – and at lower speeds. Reserved for all-terrain use, this mode functions up to 40kph.
In 'Auto' mode, the torque is automatically shared between the front and rear of the vehicle according to the level of grip, with up to 50 per cent distributed to the rear.
In '2WD' mode, the transmission operates solely with two-wheel-drive. This mode is ideal when driving on dry, grippy roads in a good state of repair.
The selected transmission mode is automatically displayed on the Kadjar's dashboard, with the driver informed in real time of the front/ rear torque split.
The two-wheel-drive versions of the Kadjar can come equipped with the Extended Grip4 facility. This advanced traction control system enables the vehicle to grip the road with confidence in difficult driving conditions such as snow, mud or sand...
The Extended Grip system is automatically mated to 17-inch « Mud and Snow » tyres with a specific tread pattern designed to clear mud, sand or soft snow more efficiently.

Engines that blend excellent performance with low CO2 emissions
The Kadjar benefits from a choice of downsized Energy engines5.
All the engines in the Kadjar range come with Stop&Start and deceleration energy recovery.
These powerplants incorporate the latest technologies in the area of friction reduction (variable displacement oil pump, thermal management, advanced surface treatment). Latest-generation fuel injection systems – mated to low- inertia turbochargers – result in levels of performance and efficiency to rival the market's very best.
The Kadjar offers two diesel engine options.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance's best-selling Energy dCi 110 unit positions the Kadjar at the top of its segment in terms of emissions (CO2 emissions: 99g/km) and combined NEDC6 cycle fuel consumption (3.8 litres/100km). For the first time, the Energy dCi 110 unit integrates steel pistons that reduce friction. This yields an estimated three per cent cut in CO2 emissions on an NEDC-homologated cycle7 .
Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the Energy dCi 110 is also available with six-speed automatic EDC transmission. This version delivers similar levels of fuel consumption and emissions to those of the manual version, while bringing to the table the comfort and response of a dual-clutch gearbox.
The Energy dCi 130 engine – available for both the two- and four-wheel- drive versions of the Kadjar – is packed with technologies borne out of Renault's experience in Formula 1. Thanks to downsizing, this 16-valve diesel unit produces peak power output of 96kW (130hp). It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Available across a broad rev-band, the generous peak torque of 320Nm torque is just as appreciable with two-wheel-drive transmission as it is with four-wheel drive versions, delivering brisk pick-up at all speeds. With four-wheel-drive, it is perfectly suited to low-grip conditions.
In order to comply with Euro 6b emissions legislation, these engines are equipped with a Nox Trap and particulate filter.
In terms of petrol engines, the Kadjar range features the Energy TCe 130 powerplant, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Developing 130hp at 5,500rpm and 205Nm torque from 2,000rpm, this 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit boasts the performance level of a naturally- aspirated two-litre engine.
By dint of its direct-injection technology and integrated manifold, it produces high torque at low revs.
The direct fuel-injection also improves fuel combustion, which in-turn benefits fuel consumption and Co2 emissions.
The Kadjar additionally offers the « Renault Driving eco2 » eco-driving functions, which help the driver to adopt a more economical and environmentally- friendly driving style.

Polished aerodynamics
The Kadjar benefits from a sleek and efficient aerodynamic design that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The Kadjar underwent extensive wind tunnel testing in order to find common ground between the design requirements and expectations in terms of aerodynamic performance. Particular attention was paid to the forms of the wheel rims and wing mirrors, as well as to the angle of the spoiler and air breathers.
The vehicle's underbody benefits from fairings, enabling the passage of air to flow freely beneath the chassis.
With crossovers traditionally noted for their generous ground clearance, a vent located at the front of the vehicle allows air flow to be steered around the wheel arches with a view to preventing turbulence in this area.
What's more, the Kadjar benefits from active flaps on the air intake ducts. These are closed when the engine starts up, and open automatically when engine cooling is required.
Taken together, these features yield a 4g/km reduction in CO2 emissions and a 0.62 litre/100kph fuel consumption saving at 130kph.
With its efficient range of engines, strong performance both in built-up areas and across more varied types of terrain, an attractive design and quality equipment, the Kadjar combines all the strengths required to support Renault's ambitions in the compact crossover segment.
