Petrolicious rides in a tres chic 1969.5 Citroen DS21

It seems like the Citroën DS is starting to see a belated surge in popularity among auto aficionados in the US. Motor Trend compared one to a Tesla Model S a few years back, and Jay Leno recently showed off his example, too. Petrolicious has just entered the party with its profile of Jeff Suhy and his relationship with a 1969.5 DS21.

The DS has earned a cult of admirers despite not ticking the boxes of many collector cars. Its spaceship looks are certainly polarizing, and the range of four-cylinder engines doesn't provide neck-snapping performance. Also, while the innovative suspension layout allows for serenely comfortable drive, the Citroën name doesn't carry any luxury cachet. Instead, getting into these quirky sedans still requires people to be somewhat in the know.

Suhy had an incredibly steep wish list for his DS, including the climate it had lived in. However, he eventually tracked just the right one down. Now that he can get behind the wheel, Suhy says that the car just forces him to relax and enjoy the ride. As always, Petrolicious perfectly captures all of the best details of this fascinating French sedan.
