Watch this tire rocket into the stands at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion

While the Monterey Motorsports Reunion is more a chance to see some of motorsports' greatest racing cars in action, that doesn't mean the drivers aren't pushing hard for a win. But in the case of this unfortunate Chevrolet Monza, its driver quite literally drove one of its wheels to failure.

The spokes on the racer's wheel shattered, causing the car to wreck and dispatching the wheel high into the air. Following its liberation from the hub, the tire found its way into the stands where, thankfully, none of the spectators were injured by its landing. The Monza's driver, Ken Epsman, walked away from the crash.
