Family Of Geese Shut Down Chicago Freeway

Geese receive police escort to safety

A young family stranded along the side of an interstate outside of Chicago caused traffic jams Tuesday evening as their children wandered in and out of the left lane. No, they aren't the world's most irresponsible parents. A family of Canadian geese caused an hour-long back up for evening commuters as police eventually shut down the freeway to escort the feathered family across westbound Interstate 80, NBC 5 reported.

Good Samaritans reported the two geese and their five goslings waddling along the highway, and even shielded the family while waiting for help to arrive. Two police cruisers and a tow truck showed up and guided the geese across four lanes and off the freeway. The geese are now resting comfortably in a neighborhood field, though they are still playing chicken with passing cars.
