With a new 2015 C-Class already upon us, we've known it's only a matter of time before Mercedes-Benz drops a new C63 AMG on us. And it looks like that time is coming soon.

Spied here undergoing testing in its native Germany, this is the second time we're getting a glimpse at the upcoming new C63, but while it may be wearing just as much camouflage as last time, the lighter, drier conditions give us a bit of a better look. Seemingly understated for an AMG model, the new C63 will still sport large air openings in the front bumper and small vents flanking the rear through which protrude four squared-off exhaust tips. There's also a bit of an aerodynamic lip to the rear bumper, along with some serious-looking alloys wearing beefy, low-profile rubber.

Of course, what will really matter is what's under the hood. And that's expected to be a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing between 450 and 500 horsepower, which even on the bottom end would make it more powerful than its chief rival, the latest BMW M3 with its 425-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo six. Whether Mercedes offers the new C63 with 4Matic all-wheel drive – as standard or optional – remains to be seen, but we're expecting the new model to be unveiled early next year, so we'll find out in due course.

I thought it was confirmed RWD (by conversations with the head of AMG.) This definitely seems like it will have AWD if desired. Is there a source for this?

Every time I see an article about a high performancebcompact sedan (M3, RS4, ISF) I always look at cadillac and ask "why the hell is the timeline for the ATS V so far out from its release"

Exactly....... The ATS-v is reaching chevy volt time-line type delays. It's like they are about to release it, then another german competitor releases their version so they go back to the drawing board.

And the German car released is setting a new standard for brand spanking new technology. ATS-V is just a remake of a model already out there. Won't be seeing anything new when it comes out.

@acidtonic what the hell are you talking ?!?! There has never been a car riding on this chassis to have such an engine in it.....stop spewing non sense like you always do.....the merc with a twinblow V8 and the ATSV a V6.....both will produce around the same amount of power......the C63 may beat it off the line but ATSV while have it in driving dynamics.....both with be opulent and lustworthy.....

New M3 vs. New C63. It's gonna be an awesome battle.

The head of AMG was overheard at a recent show saying it might not be AWD, which I applaud.

Like every one said, its a great looking car even with camo. It looks more refined, this may give the M3 some stiff competition.

Never. Mercedes will never top the all around performance of BMW.
