JetSurf is a combination surfboard and wakeboard with a built in two-stroke engine to propel you around the nearest body of water. Even on the calmest of days you can take to the water and have fun.
Each JetSurf board is about six feet long and two feet wide. Thanks to the carbon fiber and Kevlar body, the board, including the 100cc 17 horsepower engine, only weighs about 33 pounds.
JetSurf offers three different styles of board depending on your skill level, and how much you want to spend. The "Ultra Sport" model uses an 86cc engine and has a top speed of 30 miles per hour. The next step up "GP100" model uses the 100cc motor to get to speeds of 34 miles per hour, while a "special sport carburetor" helps the "Pro Race" model get to 35 miles per hour.
Each model is fitted with a 2.5-liter fuel tank, giving the JetSurf board a little over an hour of water time.
The motorized surfboard idea is not an entirely new one. As reported by Wired, a company named WaveJet developed a surfboard with a unique propulsion system a few years back, but with a top speed of only 12 miles per hour, it barely achieves speeds one-third of which JetSurf is capable.
The cost of the JetSurf board starts at $9,900. That's a hefty chunk of change for a surfboard, even before you factor in the cost of gas, but it's still quite a bit cheaper than buying a beach house in Malibu.
