Less than 12 months since Apple announced "Eyes Free" Siri integration, we have another automaker officially jumping on board. Honda has just announced that its 2013 Accord, Acura RDX, and Acura ILX will all support Apple's Siri as a dealer-installed option.
"iPhone has become so integral to people's lives that they continue to use them in their vehicles," said Honda America's assistant vice president of automobile product planning Vicki Poponi in the press release below. "Offering Honda and Acura owners Siri and its Eyes Free mode via Bluetooth is an incredible opportunity to provide next-generation connectivity and meet our customer's ever-changing needs."
This announcement is yet another step toward more integrated personal mobile technology in cars. The idea is that, over time, car manufacturers can use the driver's smartphones to power much of the infotainment.
There's still no word on the cost of the dealer-installed option, nor when exactly it will be available.
