Joy Ride? Suspected Drunk Driver Makes Wrong Turn Into Subway Tunnel

He managed to travel underground for two city blocks

Service on the San Francisco subway was suspended for a few hours on Thursday morning when a suspected drunk driver managed to drive his SUV into a subway tunnel and get stuck.

The driver, 40-year-old Scott Michell, entered the subway system and drove underground for two city blocks before his vehicle became lodged on the tracks. Workers estimated that Mitchell was driving about 40 MPH underneath the city and, miraculously, did not encounter any trains, which would have led to a violent head-on collision.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with charged with driving under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign and, obviously, driving on train tracks.
