Bridgestone adds more sizes to fuel-saving Ecopia EP422 tire lineup

Bridgestone has announced the expansion of its fuel-saving Ecopia EP422 low-rolling resistance tire lineup from five to 29 sizes, ranging from 15- to 18-inch tires sized specifically for vehicles like the Toyota Prius, Chevy Malibu, Nissan Altima and Honda Odyssey.
All Ecopia EP422 tires feature fuel-saving technologies, including:

• Fuel Saver Sidewall Compound that helps lower rolling resistance by both returning more energy back to the tire and reducing heat generation compared to normal sidewalls.
• Silica to improve traction in wet conditions by increasing flexibility of the tread compound.
• NanoPro-Tech improves rolling resistance and helps contribute to fuel-efficiency and CO2 reduction by controlling the interaction between polymers, filler materials and other rubber chemicals at the molecular level.
• Circumferential grooves to help channel water out of the footprint area to improve resistance to hydroplaning.

Bridgestone's global goal is to improve the rolling resistance of all of its passenger vehicle tires by 25 percent before 2020, resulting in less fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.
