Can you envision what the world will be like in 40 years? I mean, that's a long time from now. The internet has only been popular for 15 years and look what it has become. Even if it looks crazy, there's no one better than Airbus to tell us what the future of air travel might look like. Airbus just showed off their concept plane for the year 2050 -- the generation after the next generation. For the concept, it's not surprising that designers looked deeply to nature -- it's time-tested after all. The plane itself will be made of light and rigid materials similar to bird bones.
And this is where it gets a little ambitious.
Airbus says that first and business class will go the way of the wind and the entire plane will be comfortable. (They must also foresee everyone being rich in the future, or at least they anticipate competition from the flying car.) There are still, however, several zones in the plane: interactive (games and shopping), vitalizing (massage and vitamin air), and smart tech. All of the seats will be form fitting and include high-speed internet.
The coolest design feature is the material described for the hull. Airbus says that the material will be able to switch between transparent and opaque allowing passengers to have the best views of the night sky.
It looks silly, yes. But remember, as close as a few years ago, no one could conceive the notion of our cars tweeting and posting Facebook statuses.
