Gas prices are dropping this Memorial Day weekend, according to the latest surveys of
gas prices state by state.
The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island, for example, is $3.92, five cents lower than the $3.97 price that was reported by AAA a few days ago.
Tripadvisor.com reports that gas prices have affected American's travel decisions this holiday weekend. However, an estimated 33% of people surveyed said they will still travel.
One site where you can find the lowest price at the pump in your area is www.gasbuddy.com.
Fuel is more than a dollar per gallon higher than a year ago, travelers should be happy to know prices are on the way down.
"The good news is we feel gas has already peaked for the year," said AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman Jim Lardear.
