Italian automaker
Fiat will soon launch a trim range that gets its name from the company's two-cylinder engine: the
TwinAir. The TwinAir range – to be offered on three-door and convertible
500s – will hit the UK this summer with pricing expected to start at approximately £11,500 ($18,827 U.S. at the current exchange rate).
Both versions of the TwinAir range (TwinAir and TwinAir Plus) are powered by Fiat's gasoline-fueled, 0.9-liter two-cylinder engine that features turbocharging and the automaker's revolutionary MultiAir technology. Styling touches unique to the TwinAir range include a satin chrome grill, black alloys, rear spoiler, chrome-tipped exhaust and an optional piano black roof. The TwinAir features 15-inch Total Black alloy wheels, a sports kit, stop-start technology and electric mirrors as standard. The TwinAir Plus adds air conditioning, a leather steering wheel with radio controls, fog lights, brake assist and a hill holder system.
The TwinAir-powered 500 tops out at 108 miles per hour and dashes to 60 mph in under 11 seconds. Fuel consumption works out to a handy 57 miles per gallon (U.S.) and emissions come in at 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
