T3 Motion, the company best known for making a 3-wheeled mobility device that makes security personnel resemble centurion-like robot overlords from the future, has just introduced their vision of a sporty commuter, the R3 prototype. Although the all-electric two-seater is technically a three wheeler, it features twin motorcycle tires mounted on a wide single rear wheel.

This arrangement is said to give it better stability and handling. It also helps the vehicle claim motorcycle status and lends it the ability to pass through certain regulatory hoops – like crash testing.

The R3 is powered by an AC induction motor pulling juice from a lithium polymer pack of sufficient size for 80 to 100 miles of range. Top speed is a bit low at 70 miles per hour but it's not really meant as a long distance interstate cruiser. It can be fitted with a cloth top if you're so inclined and also features a Samsung Galaxy tablet mounted in the center stack.

The company isn't ready to say exactly when it might be available but they are kicking around a price point of $25,000 to $35,000. Check out the gallery below for a better look around the vehicle before hitting the jump for footage of it underway both with and without its bodywork mated to the chassis.
