Mazda plans to save 6.6 metric tons of CO2 this month, but small, efficient powertrains and hybrids definitely aren't part of the equation. The Zoom Zoom automaker is on the hook to provide the power for the Nippon Professional Baseball Association's two All Star games on July 23 and 24, and the voltage will come from only green sources. The 12,000 kilowatt hours of power for the games will come from alternative energy sources like biomass, solar and wind.
So, did Mazda unearth some ground breaking formula for powering baseball stadiums that can later be translated into automobiles? No. But team Zoom Zoom is working hard to polish up its green credentials and there are few events in Japan that are held in higher regard than Nippon Professional Baseball games.
