Betty Boop in Musical Mountaineers – Click above to watch video after the jump
Might we have discovered the earliest example of cartoon biofuel?
Way back in 1939, Paramount released "Musical Mountaineers," a seven-minute Betty Boop musical short that sees the shapely dancer run out of gas in hillbilly country, a place completely populated by stereotypes. There's a feud going on, but when Boop makes friends through her dance moves, they repay her with a tankful of corn dripp'ns. We assume this means moonshine, which is basically ethanol and apparently operates in the car just fine. Guess the trend for celebrities (even animated ones) to drive around in green vehicles has been around longer than we thought. Check out the video after the jump.
