Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is working on a variety of alternative powerplants, including diesel and microhybrids. Way back in August 2008, though, we were teased by the idea of an M&M electric vehicle. Finally, we learn that it – or at least some sort of Mahindra EV – will be coming to the New Delhi Auto Expo, which opens tomorrow.
If it's the EV that we learned about in 2008, then it is a four-seater that will at first only be available in India. The Economic Times reports that the vehicle would be available by the end of 2010. M&M also plans to begin selling hydrogen-powered three-wheelers and HCNG vehicles (which use a blend of hydrogen and CNG) between now and the end of 2011. Both Honda and Toyota will be introducing small cars at the show as well.
