Taiwan's first automobile brand, Luxgen, is calling its new Luxgen EV
+ the "world's first electric 7-Passenger MPV
." While the Tesla Model S
is supposed to have seating for seven (counting the two small jump seats), but Luxgen is putting the passengers into minivan-sized comfort. Unveiled at the Dubai Motor Show
last month, the Luxgen EV+ is one of the first four vehicles from Luxgen that should be on the market in late 2010. The others are all luxury vehicles
: the Luxgen CEO, the Luxgen MPV and the Luxgen7SUV.
We're not totally up on our Chinese ideograms, but it looks like
the Luxgen EV+ uses a powerplant from AC Propulsion with lithium ion cells and puts out 265 N-m of torque and offers a 0-62 time of 8.6 seconds. Top speed is an apparent 90 mph.
We're also not totally up on our branding copyright law, but doesn't the "zero Emission" logo on the side of the EV+ look an awful lot like what Nissan
is using on the side of the Leaf
