The University of California - Davis has been at the forefront of a lot of alternative fuel research in recent years, including hydrogen generation, producing fuels from biomass by various biological methods and hybrids. The California Energy Commission has now awarded another $3 million to UC-Davis for work on plug-in hybrids. The school will establish a plug-in hybrid research center at the UCD Institute of Transportation Studies. The center will try to enhance the commercial viability of PHEVs by identifying strategies for the effective adoption of PHEVs, do demonstrations and provide information.
