California Energy Commission has grants available for Biofuels Research

If you're doing research on producing biofuels from cellulosic biomass, the California Energy Commission has some money for you! They have $3 million to give out to three or four projects. The Commission has put a solicitation for competitive grants for research, development and demonstration of conversion technologies to make fuel from materials like agricultural and forest residues, food waste, beverages or other materials.

The most that any single project can request is $1 million. Thermo-chemical, biochemical and physiochemical technologies are all eligible for the grants. The commission is looking for developments that improve the cost competitiveness and efficiency of biofuel production. The projects should all produce transportation fuels in liquid or gaseous form.
