Mitsubishi may be lagging behind Toyota and Honda in profit (Mitsubishi is the only Japanese automaker that is losing money), but it's still going forward with expansions to both its model line-up and factory output just like it's rivals. Mitsubishi announced last week it will introduce three new models in Japan this year (including a redesigned eK minicar next month) and hire about 600 new workers in its factories.
One source quoted in the article from Bloomberg said Mitsubishi is making the right decision, since demand is growing for vehicles from Japanese automakers. Honda and Suzuki have also both recently announced factory expansions.
