Honda Civic Hybrid supplies running short

With the previous generation of the Civic Hybrid vastly overshadowed by Toyota's Prius, one might have thought that the rather pedestrian styling of the latest version would be destined for the same fate. However, the electrified Civic is currently outselling its predecessor by nearly 2-1 (current calendar year compared to the same period in 2005), and dealer supplies are running at an ultra-short three days.

Honda acknowledges the need for additional Civic capacity, but won't say if it'll come from the company's US or Canadian operations. A decision may be made this year, but will probably not be publicly announced.
