Nissan drops $40 million on new paint system

In 2007, Nissan will spend $40 million on a paint system for its plant in Fukuoka, Japan, that will boost production and energy efficiency by 15 percent. The new, more compact system is an improvement that Nissan plans to roll out at its other factories in Japan. The $40 million is an additional investment for Nissan in the plant -- the automaker has already spent approximately $48 million sprucing up the plant's finish line.
