Last summer, we had congressmen looking for investigations into E85 price fixing; now, there are two senators who want to know if there's a conspiracy to limit access to ethanol.

Charles Grassley of Iowa (where there's probably some interest in corn products) and Barack Obama of Illinois (probably interested in some attention) have asked the FTC to look into "potentially illegal policies by major petroleum companies that discourage the sale of biofuels". Supposedly, oil companies have rules in place that make it extremely difficult for a franchised station to offer alternative fuels, and the senators are looking to shed some light on the situation.

Look for more discussion of alternative fuels in President Bush's State of the Union address today.
