The world’s largest democracy is going to get more crowded with a new player in its automotive market.
Kia Motors, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Company, is planning to enter India by the end of 2006. According to a senior official, the Korean automaker will first focus on the compact car segment, bringing in its Rio or Picanto vehicles, though that may change depending on the results of the company's market surveys.

Parent company Hyundai Motors already sells cars in India but Kia will operate independently.
