If Chrysler pays as much attention to Autoblog readers as we think they do, then whether or not to build the Challenger is a no-brainer. Chrysler COO Eric Ridenour said during the Detroit Auto Show that gas prices are merely one element of what goes into a car buyer's final purchase, not the only element.
The company is studying whether there's a business case for the Challenger -- even in a $4/gallon gas price situation. Ridenour says the SRT line is doing well despite their thirst for fuel, making us think that the Challenger has a shot. Time and the market will tell, though -- Ridenour wouldn't confirm whether DCX will build the vehicle, but he did say that a vehicle that is fuel-efficient within its segment is still a good thing.
