Toyota is due to release 2006 sales projections coming up soon, and most argue that 2006 is the magic year in which Toyota becomes the world's largest automaker, pushing GM out of the spot. There you have it, albeit earlier than most thought.
The Washington Post said Sunday that those in the know indicate that the number will be in the ballpark of 9.2 million vehicles, 11 percent more than this fiscal year. That figure isn't too far off; in fact, Toyota is already 10 percent up this year in sales over last, and with an upcoming redesigned Camry most likely slated for the second half of 2006, can expect to experience a boost.
