The high-profile hybrid program at Ford Motor became the latest domino to fall in the reorganization of the company's Americas group when current director of hybrid programs Mary Ann Wright resigned Friday. Wright had been a key Ford figure in its hybrid and fuel-efficiency initiatives, both of which figure prominently in the company's turnaround plans.

Wright will be replaced by Nancy Gioia (pictured) as director of Sustainable Mobility Technologies and Hybrid Vehicle Programs. Gioia has been with Ford since 1982, and most recently oversaw Ford's small vehicle engineering, including the Mustang development. The company denies that the leadership swap will affect its highly-publicized plans to increase hybrid production.
