Honda Motor reports that advance orders in Japan for its new Civic hybrid are running ahead of sales targets. Honda logged 700 advance orders in a one-month period, which compares favorably to the 500 units per month projected average sales for the model. Sales are far ahead of the 36 units per month logged during 2004 for the last Civic Hybrid model.

Advance sales of the gas-only new Civic are running at about 2,000 per month.

Global sales targets for the new Civic are over 600,000 units per year, 40,000 of which will be hybrids.
