Despite having sold its entire 20 percent stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru, GM will maintain its current relationships with two other Japanese automakers – Isuzu and Suzuki. While never realizing the potential benefits of its alliance with Subaru, a senior GM exec says that the company still hopes to benefit from Isuzu's expertise in diesel technology and its current partnership with Suzuki on fuel-cell technology. Both Japanese manufacturers also give the General a pair of important inroads into the Japanese market.
