Just noticed that our sister site Engadget broke the news about Magellan's new $699 RoadMate 360. It features a 14-channel GPS receiver based on Hertz's NeverLost system and street maps for Canada, Puerto Rico, and all 50 U.S. states. The screen is a 3.5-inch high-res TFT color touch screen with 3D graphics. The RoadMate 360 is ready to go right out of the box with all of its maps preloaded, although the release doesn't mention whether or not it will be capable of receiving updated maps in the future.
Since we couldn't provide a satisfactory answer for Max in the last post about which aftermarket nav system is the best, I'll also let you know that Engadget has a whole section devoted to GPS systems in not just cars, but phones and other devices, as well.
