We knew that there would be three of Ford's loosely Mazda 6-based "CD3" architecture — otherwise known as the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr — but nine vehicles based on CD3? This is certainly an impressive exercise in platform-sharing.
The Detroit Free Press reported yesterday that in addition to the Fusion, Milan and Zephyr, Ford will build two crossovers: the Lincoln Aviator and Ford Edge. The last four vehicles have not yet been announced, but all-in-all, Ford is relying on this platform for sales numbering in the 800,000s.
