Vortech. Mustang. The two go together like peanut butter and jelly, so it should be to no one's surprise that the latest pairing of centrifugal supercharging and ponycar performs well. For those Mustang GT owners who feel threatened by LS1 F-bodies and modified SRT-4s, Vortech's new $4000 kit provides an additional 125 HP of tire-smoking fun and mid-twelves in the quarter mile. The optional intercooler seems like a must-have, not really for more power (a claimed 50 extra) but rather for increased durability with the stock bottom end (detonation is not your friend). While a Mustang modified in such a manner is unlikely to keep up with the upcoming Shelby Cobra GT500, it has the distinct advantage of being available right now. Plus, some of us DIYers just like to do things the hard way.
