Like most auto manufacturers trying to get a piece of the pie that is the ever-expanding market of Asia, BMW has opened up a design shop in Singapore in anticipation of the region's expanded influence on all things automotive. Already an intellectual hub for architectural, interior and environmental design, Singapore is strategically located within Southeast Asia and is a good place to learn more about the Asian consumer. Initially, the studio will be run by current Bimmer designers (i.e. not citizens of Singapore), but the studio seeks to recruit and train new designers locally.
